Mercator Advisors LLC helps clients maintain true course on large, complex financing efforts by mapping out and implementing strategies that leverage public and private sector resources while managing risk. One of our key strengths is working with project sponsors to synthesize federal credit assistance, tax incentives and regulatory provisions with debt financing and other sources of private capital.

The firm’s principals have held senior positions with major investment banks as well as at the U.S. Department of Transportation. As a result, we bring a unique blend of both capital markets experience and federal policy expertise to our assignments. Our intimate scale enables us to seamlessly combine these disciplines to fashion solutions for clients.

While our primary emphasis is transportation infrastructure, we also have experience in other sectors such as education, utility and economic development finance.

Synthesizing Public and Private Resources

The firm is named for Gerardus Mercator, a renowned 16th century Flemish cartographer who devised the first map of the world that could be used for accurate navigation. The Mercator Projection, as it is known, uses parallel lines to show latitude and longitude. This allowed navigators to keep constant compass bearings (“true course”) for sailing between two points, vastly expediting their journey and reducing risk.
